Beezer leads Sapphire Ventures’ investments in venture funds domestically and internationally. She began her career in financial services over 20 years ago at Morgan Stanley in its global infrastructure group. Since, she has held various direct and indirect venture investment roles, as well as operational roles in software business development at Hewlett Packard. In 2016, Beezer led the launch of OpenLP, an effort to help foster greater understanding in the entrepreneur-to-LP tech ecosystem. Beezer earned a BA in government from Wesleyan University, where she recently served on the board of trustees, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Jacob Hodes is the Head of Private Equity at Brown Advisory. Brown Advisory’s private equity program spans venture capital, growth equity, buyouts, real estate, real assets and private debt. Prior to joining Brown Advisory, Jacob was an attorney in the Corporate Department at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he worked with both public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, reorganizations and corporate governance. He also worked with private equity sponsors on acquisitions and fund structuring, as well as with non-profit organizations. Prior to his time at Skadden, Jacob worked as an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Jacob graduated with an A.B. in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs from Princeton University and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law.
Jacob lives in Baltimore, Maryland, where he serves as Board Chair of the Pratt Contemporaries, Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Vice President of The Institute for Islamic, Christian and Jewish Studies, Investment Committee Chair of the Straus Foundation and Investment Committee Vice Chair of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. Jacob also serves as a board member of NextGen Venture Partners.
Jessica Reed Saouaf is Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Director of Research of Hall Capital Partners LLC. She is also a member of the firm's Executive Committee and Investment Review Committees.
Ms. Reed Saouaf joined the firm in 1999 and has held a number of positions, among them Head of the Private Equity group, where she focused on private equity buyout growth and venture capital investments; Head of the Public Equity group, where she focused on public equity and equity hedge fund investments; Head of Distressed, where she focused on distressed investment strategies in the private and public markets; Research Associate; and Research Analyst. Ms. Reed Saouaf took a sabbatical to earn her M.B.A. at which time she also interned at Buena Vista Fund Management.
Ms. Reed Saouaf serves on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center. Ms. Reed Saouaf graduated cum laude from Wellesley College with a B.A. in Economics and Psychology. She earned an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Mark Shoberg is a Managing Director with Stanford Management Company.
Prior to joining SMC in 2016, Mark spent over ten years with the University of Texas Investment Management Company in Austin, Texas. At UTIMCO, marked served as Managing Director responsible for the firm’s real estate, technology, and healthcare investments.
Mark’s prior work experience has provided him with broad exposure to a number of industries including Information Technology, Oil & Gas, Consulting, and Real Estate. Prior to joining UTIMCO, Mark worked in the consulting division of Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and in the strategic development group of VerticalNet Inc., a software provider of on-demand supply chain management solutions and business-to-business procurement portals.
Mark received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and BE in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
Kobie is a Partner at Upfront. He joined the firm in June 2016 after having previously worked at Silicon Valley based Accel, where he was involved in investments including Campaign Monitor, UserTesting, AdRoll, Emergent VR and Invoca (also an Upfront portfolio company). Prior to Accel, Kobie was the Chief Marketing Officer at REVOLVE, one of the largest global fashion ecommerce players based in Los Angeles.
Kobie brings to Upfront expertise in SaaS businesses and marketing technologies and is an author of Growthverse, an interactive visualization of the marketing technology landscape. He has deep knowledge of emerging technologies including VR and AR and was also an early personal investor in Oculus, later sold to Facebook for $2B. Earlier in his career, Kobie helped found OpenView Venture Partners and was an investor at Insight Venture Partners where he sourced notable early investments in Exact Target (acquired by Salesforce for $2.5B) and Instructure (NYSE: INST).
