Garry Tan is a designer, engineer, and investor in early stage startups. He is cofounder and managing partner of Initialized Capital, an early stage seed fund with over $230M in assets under management. He invested in and directly worked with over 700 companies in 5 years from the earliest possible stage, often just an idea. He’s a seed investor in successful startups including Coinbase, Instacart, OpenDoor, Cruise Automation, Genius, Envoy, Color Genomics, Patreon, LendUp, Flexport, EasyPost, Clever, Airware, Eero, Lever, Sift Science, Lob, Blend Labs, Digit, Ridecell, Heap, HelloSign, and many more. He was previously a partner at Y Combinator for nearly 5 years, working with 10 full batches of companies.
Before that, he cofounded Posterous and helped build it to a world-class website used by millions. (Acquired by Twitter) He also cofounded the engineering team for Palantir Technology's quant finance analysis platform and also designed the logo. He holds a BS in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford.
Nick Tomaino is Founder and General Partner of 1confirmation, a seed stage crypto fund backed by Horsley Bridge, Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen among others. Previously, Nick was an early employee at Coinbase where he led business development and marketing. Nick also co-founded the Token Summit, a leading industry event.
Preethi Kasireddy is a Blockchain Engineer who recently made her way from San Francisco to Los Angeles. She's an avid learner who taught herself how to code, and is passionate about educating the world about blockchains and cryptocurrencies. She’s the author of several popular posts, including How does Ethereum work anyway? and Fundamental Challenges with Public Blockchains.
She was previously a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, a banker at Goldman Sachs, and most recently a software engineer at Coinbase. She is currently the Founder & CEO of Schelling, a new blockchain startup (stealth).
Preethi was born in Connecticut, but lived in various places around the world before ending up in New Jersey, where she went to high school. She completed her undergrad at USC, where she studied Industrial & Systems Engineering.
Michael joined Upfront Ventures in 2015. Most recently, Michael was a West Coast Editor at PandoDaily, where he lead the publication’s coverage of the venture capital, financial technologies, ecommerce, on-demand services, and online video sectors. Previously, Michael worked as a Managing Director at WorldVest, a merchant bank based in Los Angeles, leading investments in early stage opportunities within the technology and natural resources sectors in North and South America, and Asia.
Michael concentrates on identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, providing support to portfolio companies, and conducting financial & business due diligence, and leading the firm’s strategic content initiatives.
