Fireside Chat with Jarl Mohn
Jarl is President and CEO of National Public Radio. Jarl also manages The Mohn Family Foundation, a philanthropic entity he and Pamela created in 2000.
Jarl was the founding President and CEO of Liberty Digital, a public company that invested in interactive television, cable networks and digital startups. Prior to Liberty Digital, he created E! where he was President and CEO. Jarl was formerly Executive Vice President and General Manager of MTV and VH1, where he led the transformation from music videos to long-form programming. Prior to his career in television, he worked in radio where he began as a disc jockey and moved through the ranks as a programmer, general manager and then owner of a group of radio stations.
Jarl has served on the board of directors of Scripps Network Interactive which includes HGTV, Food Network and The Travel Channel as well as comScore, CNET Networks, Inc. and XM Satellite Radio, Inc. among others. He also is a dedicated member of the philanthropic community, and has served as a board member or trustee for a variety of nonprofits, including University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism, the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Southern California, Southern California Public Radio KPCC and the World President’s Organization.
